The 2012 Homebrew at the W.E.B. Competition

The Cass River Homebrewers Club of Mid-Michigan is proud to again organize and conduct this annual competition in conjunction with the World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth, Michigan. We’re growing really fast, and we’re excited about this year’s competition. The inaugural Homebrew at the W.E.B. Homebrewing Competition was held in 2008 with 223 entries from 78 brewers representing 11 states. Our second competition received 329 entries from 103 brewers representing 16 states. Last year's competition brought in over 900 entries. This year we are anticipating over 1,000 entries!

This is a Beer Judging Certification Program (BJCP) sanctioned event. The 5th annual competition will be held On March 2, 3 and 4, 2012 at Sullivan's Black Forest in Frankenmuth, Michigan. First, second and third place medals as well as the Best of Show winners in the beer and mead/cider categories will be awarded at the award ceremonies at Black Forest on March 4th, and at the World Expo of Beer© in May, 2012. New this year, several category gold medal winners will be selected to brew Pro-Am beers at various Michigan breweries. In keeping with the theme of the World Expo of Beer©, Homebrew at the W.E.B is open to Homebrewers from anywhere within the United States, Canada or abroad and we are accepting entrees in BJCP categories 1 through 28. We are thrilled to announce that the beer selected as Best of Show will again be brewed by and served on tap at Midland Brewing Company of Midland, Michigan, our Platinum Sponsor again this year. Entries will be accepted Feb 6 - 19, 2012. The Best of Show Grand Prize will be a $1,000.00 gift certificate to be spent online for homebrewing supplies and merchandise at www.brewgadgets.com! The Best of Show Mead/Cider winner will receive a $500.00 online gift certificate to www.sicilianosmkt.com!

We are also pleased to announce that our guest speaker for Saturday night will be John Palmer, author of How To Brew, and Brewing Classic Styles.

The World Expo of Beer© is one of Midwest America's premier commercial and craft beer events. Held annually since 1995, more than 40 international breweries, importers and distributors enter over 200 of their premium beers in the competition vying for the prestigious titles of Best of Show and People's Choice. The competition culminates in a two-day extravaganza during which the competitors showcase their products to nearly 10,000 eager participants and the winners take full advantage of their well-earned bragging rights
